UCFM Motorcycle Ministry?
«
on:
December 11, 2006, 09:50:43 PM »
My regional UCFM bishop has asked me to consider starting a UCFM-based ministry to serve the motorcycle community.
I would like to hear from those of you who might be interested.
There already exists the 79,000 worldwide membership of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA), of which I am a member. There are also a few other motorcycle ministries out there.
But could not a web-based motorcycle ministry such as UCFM also be effective due to our instant communication via this website?
Forseeably at first a lot of our work in the field would be in very small numbers (perhaps even solo). How would this work for you at secular motorcycle rallies? Are there other places where we could be effective? Other ideas?
UCFM motorcyclists, I would welcome your input on this matter.

Absolutely! There are numerous persons in the UCFM associated with motorcycle ministries.
Keep it on the forefront and making posts about it i.e. what does the motorcycle ministries do,
post photographs of an event, write an article about an event, explain how you started, write about your bike and ask for others to write about their experiences on the road.

I stand in agreement with what the others have written. I will keep it in my prayers asking that the Lord will lead you in the directions that He wants you to go with it.
God Bless

Thanks to all for the words of encouragement.
There are many ways to serve in a motorcycle ministry:
I will mention just one in this post -
Serve the motorcycle community by participating in motorcycle rallies, rides, and organizations.
(
Before going, pray for an opportunity for a "devine appointment" at which we might share God's word with the spiritually lost.)
Participate in biker activities and become known and accepted (but always be mindful to act only in ways that would be acceptable, and bring credit, to the Lord. (Be a living example of Christian character and honor - ever mindful of God's Word).

I think motorcycle ministry is a very effective way to reach people.I challenge all those that own, ride or have an interest in motorcycles to come forth and participate in a far reaching ministry that has a potential of reaching possibly millions of people.

I'm with ya bro..I think it would give us a great way to meet each other and have great summer meetings and outdoor ministries. What I do is get together with riders and pick a destination, then as we travel the route, we touch everyone with meet with a lil Jesus. Praying with people, helping people. One time I was on a ride and i saw a little elderly lady pushing a shopping cart to her car. so we all stopped and pushed it for her and loaded up her car and she was on her way with a lil prayer. Motorcycle ministries give us the freedom so see more and act on more. If we all just take our time going somewhere, its amazing how many more people you see that need Jesus.

As it is said by the CMA, God gave us an 800 pound ministry tool (your motorcycle). With it, you can attract people in the natural, and then lead them to spiritual matters. We have even seen Hell's Angels take off their hats when we were praying at some Harley Drags. The bikers seem to know more about Jesus than they want to admit or show.
My wife and I will continue in our motorcycle ministry. Once known as CMAers, the bikers don't forget you. Even though I am not in complete agreement with the direction that CMA seems to be heading, they gave all of us Christian bikers a headstart into being accepted by the biker community.
If there is any way we can help your motorcycle ministry, please contact us. We have found that a hot cup of coffee or a cold drink of water and a campfire will bring many people over. Some seem embarrassed to be seen with us, but others openly seek us out. One time after I did a memorial service, a rough, tough looking biker stopped me later on the ride and asked for a copy of the poem I had read. I gladly gave him what he wanted and some Christian tracts dealing with loss. He took them, thanked me, and then ignored me the rest of the day. He wanted and needed God's touch, but he was afraid of what others would think. I thank God He gives me any open doors with the bikers.
Once, down South, an elderly couple said we were so brave to be wearing Christian patches. Since we were in the " bible belt", I have often wondered what they meant. We have found that wearing these Christian patches have opened many doors while traveling. We have had many good conversations with Christians and non-christians. Unfortunately, we have had just a few bad experiences because of them. Still, we are honored to proclaim that Jesus is Lord to everyone we meet.

I have reached more with a bandana tied around my head than without...
I don't have a biker ministry, but you have to be able to relate to the people...be one of them... My motto is "Be real & they will come"..

Hey, since bikers like patches, why not ask Pastor Fred if we could have a small patch of the UCFM emblem made to wear on our vests? Since you are CMA, you know that it would have to be worn on the front, so the patch should not be too big. May God bless you and keep you save. Remember, keep the shiny side up!

Ithink we could all use more Brothers out there reaching the lost. The more we communicate the more effective we can be for JESUS.As for starting a new club this could be difficult .your local outlaw club wont be very pleased with a new patch on there turf.Be sure you speak to the club president and get his ok befor venturing off on your own.Ive heard of guys running into big problems doing this exact same thing.pay up and dont go alone.there are alot of nationallly accepted christian organizations out there that could use another member.CMA<soldiers for JESUS,BIKERS FOR CHRIST.org,broken chains, whatever you do may GOD Bless you ministry

I,m in agreement with PREACHERKEN on this one. These ministries have spent years building a relationship with the biker community. Each one operates in a little different circle.I believe the function of UCFM should be to equip us to be an asset to which ever one of these ministries each of us fits best into. That we might make the biggest impact for the Kingdom.
